Tony Duquette for Paul Montgomery
Undersea Ballet
Undersea Ballet
Description
While the ballet that these sketches planned never came to be, Tony still created a wonderful world of under water enchantment when his creativity brought him this idea.
Based on an old French story about a town swallowed by the sea, Tony's play was going to depict how the forgotten townsfolk returned to party once a year. His drawings relay this whimsy with eclectic costumes and otherworldly settings, destined for the stage.
Alas, while these figments of imagination never made it to the limelight, the Studio wanted to honor Tony's ambition by portraying them in a mural. Comprised of sketches aligned in a half-drop pattern, these panels can evoke the underwater mystique wherever they go.
